Chana dal namkeen is a tasty, crispy fried traditional Indian snack variety made with Bengal gram dal ( chana dal). It is very easy to make the only pre-preparation required is that you have to soak the dal overnight or at least 4 hours. Another word of caution is that make sure that there is no moisture left in the dal before frying and fry them in low flame in small batches. Check out how to make this traditional fried chana dal snack below.

Ingredients

Bengal gram dal ( chana dal ) -200 gms
Peanuts -1/4 cup
Curry leaves few
Red chilly powder -1/8 tsp
Chaat masala - 1/8 tsp
Dry mango powder -1/8 tsp
Asafetida a pinch
Salt to taste

Method

👉Wash and soak the dal overnight.
👉Next day drain the water completely. Spread the dal over a cloth. Allow it dry completely( no moisture should be present ).

👉Deep fry in hot oil in medium flame and in batches using a steel strainer until the oil stops bubbling and colour changes to a light golden brown.
