VAZHAITHANDU MOR KOOTU

Vazhaithandu mor kootu is a South Indian kootu variety made by cooking vazhaithandu(banana stem) in buttermilk
.It is very easy to cook, nutritious and tasty too.

Ingredients

Vazhaithandu/banana stem-1 cup chopped
Whipped curd(buttermilk) -1 cup
Salt to taste
Oil-1 tsp
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Urad dhal-1 tsp
Red chillies 1 no
Curry leaves few

Grind Together-(Paste)

Grated coconut-1/2 cup
Raw rice -2 tsps
Green chillies -3 nos
Cumin seeds-1 tsp

Method

👉Chop the vazhaithandu and soak it in buttermilk until used (this is done to prevent browning )then drain the buttermilk completely and cook the vazhaithandu in boiling water until it's 3/4 th done.
Drain the excess water.


👉Heat a kadai add the whipped curd, ground paste, cooked vazhaithandu, salt and mix well allow it to cook for 2 minutes.


👉In a tadka pan heat oil add mustard seeds cumin seeds, urad dhal, red chillies and curry leaves and allow it to splutter, add this tempering to the kootu. Boil the kootu for another 2 minutes. Serve hot.


👉Tasty and healthy vazhaithandu mor kootu is ready.
